It freezes or so it seems to freeze when I am at the scene where fei is looking at kid fei watching the movie on the black and white screen, right after the masked lady requests that fei and his gear be transfered to d block.

It just freezes, does anyone know what the reason of this could be, is that where you change discs? or maybe i uno.

You're a long way off of having to change disks, it's not that.
Same thing happened to me when I was playing on an emulator.
I had to use the debug room to jump the scene and start up a bit further in the game. There must be a way around it, coz not everyone gets stuck at that bit - as far as I know.

If i use the debug room however, my character will return to level 1 will he not? Could you explain a little bit into detail about what i should do. I would really appreciate it alot, i remember last playing this game, and i wnat to complete it again, thank you!

EDIT: The Debug Room wont work, because i never used a memory card to save my games, only save states, because it always fails to save when i try using a virtual memory card.

and my nearest save state is right when the kaiser begins talking.

Chances are that you'd have to restart from level 1, yes. In order to get around that one, you'd have to cheat your stats too.

Be sure to check out the Debug room FAQ. It's what I used when using the debug room, and it's really helpful. It can explain things a lot better than I can.

To start with though, do you know how to get into a debug room using an emulator?

Otherwise, I could see if I still have a save file in there, if that would help?

Wow, that's really strange.

What emulator are you using?

I can see that you already found your answer.. But for anyone else experiencing this problem during the dream sequence, here's what you do: RIght before the part where it freezes up, hit F7. Then after it it past that part, hit F7 again, and it will be A-OK.

Note, this is for ePSXe users running an ISO... I am not sure if it does the same thing when running straight from CD.

First off, what emulator are you using?

I had the game freeze up on me again right near the end of disk 1, and I just used the PSXMemTool to save my ePSXe Memory Card files as Bleem! Memory Card files, and switched over to using PSXeven (which uses the same format as Bleem! memory card files). THen, after I got everything worked out and a save file on Disk 2, I switched back to ePSXe (again, saving my Bleem! Memory Card files as ePSXe files first). Maybe you can do the same thing; when was your last save?

I hear that PSXeven plays XenoGears a lot better, but I was experiencing some trouble with it (although I like it's format better than ePSXe), so maybe you'll just want to stick with PSXeven.

By the way for those who are playing Xenogears on a PS2, there is a setting that needs to be changed when you face Deus for the first time or the game will freeze. If I remember correctly, it is one of the video settings for the PS2 that needs to be changed.

Just would like to comment on people having freezing trouble at this part, it appears to be the sound that causes it to freeze.

When I hit F7 I noticed the sound turned off, so I turned off the sound during the black and white part, and then later when you see a second ghostly image that says "You shouldn't be here" I hit F7 again to turn the sound back on, worked fine.

Do you all mind giving the download site for the emulator and the xenogears rom please?

I would completely love if I could have access to it on my PC, much thanks in advance!

Here's a list of all the parts that froze for me in the xenogears ROM using ePSXe

-fei's dream sequence- hit f7 before where it freezes, and again after

-on world map- when getting in and out of my gears using R1 +R2, i saw that it would commonly freeze...so i hit escape which took me to the ePSXe window, clicked 'continue', and after about 10 seconds it returned to normal

-first battle with Deus- it will randomly freeze on a certain attack deus performs....i think theres a way to fix it but im not sure what it is.... what I did was 'save state' after every few turns, then when it froze i'd load that state and eventually i got through the battle
